How to Change Your Timezone
This article walks through setting the timezone for your PaperScorer account so dates and times across the app match where you are.
Setting your timezone is important for accurate dates and times throughout PaperScorer. All date and time displays — scan history, sync timestamps, assessment created/updated dates — respect your account’s timezone preference.
Changing Your Timezone
From any page in the application, click your profile image in the top-right corner. From the account menu that opens, click Manage Your Account.

On your account page, click Preferences in the left navigation. Then:
- Select your timezone from the dropdown.
- Click Save.

Once saved, the change takes effect immediately. Existing data isn’t re-stamped (a scan from yesterday keeps its original timestamp), but how that timestamp is displayed on screen will reflect the new timezone going forward.
Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the default timezone for a new account?
New accounts default to UTC. Update this as soon as you sign up so dates make sense from day one.
I share my account or travel a lot — what timezone should I pick?
Pick the timezone where most of your scanning happens (typically your school’s local zone). PaperScorer respects this setting for everything you see in the app; it doesn’t need to match the timezone of any device you sign in from.
Will changing the timezone change my scan history dates?
The underlying timestamps don’t change — PaperScorer stores everything in UTC internally and converts for display. A scan that happened at 2:00 PM local time will still show as 2:00 PM local time after a timezone change to a different zone of the same UTC offset; only zones with different offsets will shift the displayed time.
