Connecting Your Account to Google Classroom

This article will walk you through the process of connecting your Google Classroom account to your PaperScorer account.

There are a variety of ways the PaperScorer application will prompt you to connect your Google Classroom account to your PaperScorer account. This article will focus on creating and import class data into PaperScorer.

From any page in the application, click on the create button, then select the Class option from the create menu dropdown.

After select the class option from the create menu dropdown, you will be presented with another modal to select a method for creating a new class. Select the Google Classroom import option. (You may see additional options in the screenshot below.)

After selecting the Google Classroom import option from the previous modal, you will be presented with information on how to connect your Google Classroom account. If you have already connected your Google Classroom account, you will be presented with an option to import one or more Google Classroom classes. (This is covered in another help document.) When you are ready to connect your account, click on the Connect Google Classroom button.

The next screen will present a list of your already set up Google accounts. If you see the correct account in the list, please select it. If you do not see the account you are looking for, please log in or select the Use another account option. After logging in or selecting the right account, you will be presented with a permission screen.

When on the permission screen, you will see a list of permissions the PaperScorer Classroom Connector is requesting. Below is list a list of those permissions and why we need access to those permissions:

  1. "Manage course work and grades for students in the Google Classroom classes you teach and view the course work and grades for classes you administer" - This permission allows us to create new assignments for a class and set scores for student submissions for that newly created assignment.
  2. "View your Google Classroom class rosters" - This permission allows us to see the students in your classes. We need this permission to import students for Google Classroom classes. We are not able to see student email addresses with this permission.
  3. "View your Google Classroom classes" - This permission allows us to see a list of your active classes within Google Classroom. We need this permission to import the class container before we import the student roster for that class.

Once you have finished reviewing the permissions we have requested, click on the Allow button to complete the account connection process.

After clicking the allow button, you will be redirected back to the PaperScorer app and your Google Classroom account will be connected for future use.
