Managing Activation Codes

This article walks through buying and managing PaperScorer activation codes. Activation codes are the typical way schools, districts, and organizations distribute Teacher Pro access to multiple teachers without each one entering credit card information.

When an activation code is used, the recipient’s account is upgraded to Teacher Pro for 12 months from the date of use — not from the date of purchase. Activation codes can only be used one time by one user, so you can’t reuse or reassign them after they’re activated.

Who Should Buy Activation Codes?

Activation codes are most useful when you’re paying for multiple teachers’ Teacher Pro access — for example:

  • A school administrator buying access for a department.
  • A district purchasing codes for an entire grade level or building.
  • A grant administrator or vendor distributing access to a group.

If you’re upgrading just your own account, a direct credit-card upgrade is usually simpler.

Purchasing Activation Codes

The activation-code purchase flow lives on the same upgrade page as the individual Teacher Pro upgrade.

From any page in the application, click the orange Upgrade account button.

If you’ve already upgraded your own account, you won’t see the upgrade button on the page header. In that case, open your profile menu in the top-right corner and click Manage Your Account.

On the account page, select the Account upgrades navigation option (if you’re not already on it).

From the upgrade page you can purchase one or more codes. Each code is interchangeable — any user can redeem any one code — so just buy the quantity you need to cover the teachers you want to give access to.

Managing Your Codes

After purchase, your codes are listed under the corresponding purchase receipt on the Account upgrades page. Click the Receipt link for the purchase you want to manage.

The activation code table shows every code from that purchase:

  • Activation code — the code itself. Teachers will enter this on their own upgrade page to claim Teacher Pro.
  • Used by — the teacher who redeemed the code, once it’s been used. Empty if the code hasn’t been used yet.
  • Used date — when the code was redeemed.

To copy a code (so you can paste it into an email or document for distribution), click the Copy link on its row.

Distributing Codes to Teachers

Each teacher needs:

  1. A PaperScorer account (free account is fine to start — the activation code is what upgrades it).
  2. Their unique activation code.

They’ll go to the upgrade page in their own account and enter the code under the activation-code section. See Upgrade Your Account to a Teacher Pro Account for the exact steps a teacher takes to redeem.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do codes expire if they’re not used?

Unused codes do not expire — you can hand them out months or years after purchase. The 12-month upgrade clock starts when the code is redeemed, not when it was purchased.

Can I reassign a code if a teacher leaves before using it?

Yes — until a code is redeemed, you can give it to any other teacher. Once it’s been redeemed, it’s permanently tied to that account and can’t be transferred.

Can I refund unused codes?

Email support@paperscorer.com with your purchase details and we’ll review the request. Used codes can’t be refunded since they’ve already delivered the year of Teacher Pro access.

How do I track which teachers have redeemed codes?

The activation-code table on the receipt page shows Used by and Used date for each code as it gets redeemed. You can check back periodically to see who’s claimed access.
