Sharing an Assessment

This article walks through sharing an assessment with another PaperScorer user. Sharing produces a one-time copy — the recipient gets their own independent version of your assessment to use with their own classes.

When you share an assessment, the recipient receives a duplicate that includes all the assessment details, questions, answers, attached standards, and tags. The two copies are independent — later changes to either don’t affect the other.

Sharing copies the assessment definition only. Student data, scan results, sync history, and any class associations are not shared. All student data sharing rules continue to be governed by your SIS or LMS — please connect with your SIS/LMS administrator to review sharing permissions on student data.

Sharing an Assessment

From any page in the application, click the Assessments main-navigation option.

On the assessment list page, find the assessment you want to share. Open its action menu and click Share.

A modal will open with the share information. Copy the sharing link and send it (email, chat, etc.) to the users you want to share with.

When someone opens the sharing link, they’re prompted to confirm the share. Once they confirm, a copy of the assessment is added to their PaperScorer account — they can then test their students, scan sheets, and collect data using their own copy.

Frequently Asked Questions

If I update my assessment later, does the shared copy update too?

No. The recipient’s copy is a one-time duplicate; changes you make to your assessment afterwards don’t propagate. If you want the recipient to get an updated version, share again with the updated assessment and they’ll receive a new copy.

Can I revoke a share?

The sharing link can be re-issued (the original link becomes invalid). However, copies that have already been accepted into another account stay there — once accepted, the copy belongs to the recipient and you can’t recall it. Treat shares like emailing a document: easy to do, can’t be undone after delivery.

Can the recipient see my student data?

No. Only the assessment definition is shared. Your student rosters, class associations, scan history, and grades stay private to your account.

Does the recipient need a PaperScorer account to receive a shared assessment?

Yes. They’ll need a (free) PaperScorer account to claim the share. If they don’t have one, they’ll be prompted to sign up when they open the link.

Can I share with multiple teachers at once?

Yes — the same sharing link can be used by multiple users. Each user who confirms gets their own independent copy.
