Minimum Technical Requirements

This article covers the minimum technical requirements to use PaperScorer — operating system, browser, and hardware.

NOTE: PaperScorer may work on older versions than what’s listed below, but we don’t actively test or support them. Stick to the listed minimums (or newer) for the best experience.

Operating System

Platform Minimum Version
macOS Big Sur (11) or later
iOS / iPadOS 15 or later
Android 10 or later
Windows 10 or later
ChromeOS Any current release on a Chromebook receiving Auto Update support

Web Browser

Browser Minimum Version
Chrome Latest stable, or up to 2 versions back
Firefox Latest stable, or up to 2 versions back
Safari Bundled with a supported macOS / iOS / iPadOS version
Microsoft Edge Latest stable, or up to 2 versions back

Internet Explorer is not supported. If you’re on a Windows device, use Microsoft Edge (which has replaced IE) instead.

Hardware

If your device runs a supported operating system from the table above, it will run PaperScorer. We don’t require any specific processor, RAM, or storage minimum — PaperScorer is a web application and runs entirely in the browser.

That said, for a comfortable experience, we recommend:

  • At least 4 GB of RAM for laptops/desktops.
  • A reasonably current device — computers, phones, and tablets purchased in the last 5 years generally meet the supported OS versions.
  • A reliable internet connection — PaperScorer is cloud-based, so a stable connection (wired, school Wi-Fi, or mobile data) is needed to upload scans and view results.

Mobile App

The PaperScorer mobile app has its own minimum requirements driven by iOS and Android. See the App Store and Google Play listings for the current minimums.

Frequently Asked Questions

My school is on an older OS — can we still use PaperScorer?

You may be able to. Older versions sometimes work, but you’re more likely to hit visual glitches or unexpected failures. If you’re running into trouble, upgrading the OS or browser usually fixes it. Contact support if you’d like specific guidance.

What about Linux desktops?

PaperScorer runs in any modern browser, so Linux desktops with a current Chrome, Firefox, or Edge will work fine.

Does PaperScorer work offline?

No. PaperScorer is a cloud application — you need an internet connection to sign in, scan, sync, and grade. Scanned data is processed in the cloud, not on your device.
