What's New: Question & Answer Management and More
This article rounds up the newest ways to build and manage your assessment questions and answers in PaperScorer, plus a few other recent additions. Use it as a starting point — each section points you to a step-by-step walkthrough where one is available.

Manage your question and answer text
When you create an assessment, you now choose where its question and answer text lives:
- Managed elsewhere — you keep the wording on your own printed test or document, and PaperScorer only tracks the answer key. This is the fastest way to score an existing paper test.
- Managed in PaperScorer — you type (or generate) the full question and answer text inside PaperScorer. This unlocks question papers, images and equations, and AI question generation.
NOTE: You can change this choice later from the assessment’s settings, but switching away from “Managed in PaperScorer” hides the text-based features described below.
Add images and equations
Questions and answers managed in PaperScorer support a rich editor. You can add an image to a stem or an answer choice, and you can insert math equations using the built-in equation editor — PaperScorer saves each equation as an image so it prints cleanly on both the question paper and the answer sheet.
Generate questions with AI (Teacher Pro)
If your assessment’s content is Managed in PaperScorer and you’re on Teacher Pro, you can have PaperScorer draft multiple-choice questions for you.
- Open an assessment and click Add Question.
- Select the AI Generated Questions tab.
- Enter a topic, then choose a grade level, a difficulty (Easy, Medium, or Hard), how many questions to create, and how many answer choices each should have.
- Optionally, attach one or more standards and set how many questions to write for each.
- Optionally, check auto-tag questions to have PaperScorer add topic tags for grouping.
- Click Generate. A short animation plays while your questions are written, and the new questions appear in your assessment ready to review and edit.
Each generated question places its correct answer in a random position, so you won’t end up with an answer key that’s all “A.” Every generated question is fully editable afterward — treat the output as a first draft.
AI tokens
AI generation runs on tokens: one token generates one question. Your current balance is shown right in the generation form. When you run low, click Buy more tokens to jump to the Account Upgrades page, choose a token package, and check out. Your balance updates as soon as the purchase completes.
NOTE: The AI Generated Questions tab only appears when your assessment’s content is managed in PaperScorer and your account has AI generation enabled. If you don’t see it, check the assessment’s content setting and your plan.
Multiple versions and randomized order
You can now create several versions of the same test that shuffle the question order, the answer-choice order, or both — useful for discouraging copying. PaperScorer keeps each version’s answer key aligned automatically, and it can print a matching answer sheet for every version.
Print a question paper
For assessments managed in PaperScorer, you can print a formatted question paper — a clean sheet with your questions and answer choices — to hand out alongside the bubble answer sheet. Images and equations you added carry through to the printout.
